getLink & setLink bookmarklets

  1. First drag setLink to your bookmarks bar, or create a new bookmark, copy the setLink URL and paste it as the URL in your bookmark
  2. On a new page, click the bookmark (or drag it on the page) and you will see a dashed border around the page blocks. Click a block to generate a specific URL which highlights this block.

Note: if the block you selected doesn't turn yellow, the resulting link will scroll, but not mark the block in yellow. The bookmarklet is rather intended for paragraphs.

setLink
  1. Drag getLink to your bookmarks bar, or create a new bookmark, copy the getLink URL and paste it as the URL in your bookmark
  2. Click getLink on a page with special URL and it will scroll to the relevant block and highlight it.

If you want to test the getLink bookmarklet first, navigate to Belgium on Wikipedia with the politics' section first paragraph highlighted, & click getLink.
