World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading

The item upgrade allows players to boost the gear rating of an item by up 700 points and also give it a bonus. Items can be upgraded if they're in your inventory and you take them to the kiln.

Certain items can be upgraded for their unique stats (like an ideally made breakpoint armour that can be rolled to use in melee PvP) while others like weapons do not vary greatly post upgrade, and therefore aren't worth upgrading.

Weapons

Weapons can be upgraded to boost their numeric stats like crit chance, attack damage as well as PvE and damage from PvP. They also have a flat bonus which increases the damage they deal per second. Some weapons also have an unaffected bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are placed in a unit. In some instances, this bonus could add up to more than the amount of damage that a weapon can sustain by itself.

A weapon's upgrade costs depend on the rarity of the weapon and its current level. For example an item with a rating of +2 will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while the +3 model requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will continue rise until it requires a higher tier of Smithing Stones, at which point it will reset to one.

Upgrades to weapons will also reroll the stats of the base. This is generally a positive thing, but it can also have negative effects. Upgrades can make things impossible to use, unless you are exceptionally lucky.

Armor items can also be upgraded to boost their effectiveness. This can increase the defense of a helm or chest while belts and gloves will increase their required strength and agility. Armor also offers a reroll option for its Enhanced Defense%, meaning that it may roll back to a lower number.

The upgrade template of a weapon will display the new stats that it will gain upon upgrading, along with the relative values of those stats. This means that a weapon will gain 3% attack damage if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. However the 3% difference doesn't mean that it will hit 3 times less often, since it is an absolute statistic.

Rerolling a weapon is possible by pressing the green button on the item menu using the circling arrows. This will reroll an item and alter its stats but it will not reset the weapon's levels, or tie it to the account status.

Armor

Making a few improvements to your armor could make a huge differences in your ability to endure. Certain sets offer massive increases in resistance to curses, poison, fire, and magic. This makes it easier to traverse difficult terrains. In general, the greater defense your character is, the more value you will get out of each point of health you possess, so it's important to upgrade your armor as much as you can.

To upgrade your armor, go to one of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four of them each of which requires you to complete a special side-quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. Once you've completed the primary side quest and have completed the corresponding fountain and then you can talk to any Great Fairy to open up the armor upgrading menu.

Each piece of armor can be upgraded up to three levels, and the amount of material and Rupees required for each level will differ. It is possible to use anything from three Red Chuchu jellies and 10 Rupees to upgrade the first armor piece, and between five Rubies or ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade each subsequent one. For instance the Champion Leathers can be upgraded to +5 defense, allowing you to keep up with a decent-sized group of enemies in most cold environments, and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded to +20 defense, providing you enough protection to survive a full on raid with a few of your friends.

It's important to note that armor cannot be upgraded in the same way as weapons, so you'll want to work on upgrading it to gain physical power if you're a Warrior or Spell Power in the case of Mage. It's also worth saving your armor upgrades for the armor you'll be wearing at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you'll wear to fight the final boss as well as the Monter Parts merchant's mask.

You can also unlock some advantages to your armor by giving the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. Generally, you'll want to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll be using to win the game, such as the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer, but it can be beneficial to have a few upgrades to your helmets and chest armor that allow you to stealth around certain monsters.

Potions

Potions are liquid substances that, when consumed provide the user with a temporary status effect. There are five types of potions, each with different effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded, enhancing their level of effect. You can also enhance the effects of certain potions by including glowstone dust and redstone.

Upgrades to potion require a certain amount XP. This can be obtained by crafting them on a crafting table or by placing them in the Alchemist chest. The price of upgrades will vary based on the type of potion you'd like to upgrade, and also on the item's Mark Level and Rarity.

To upgrade a potion, click right on it in your inventory and choose the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This opens a GUI where you can choose the potions you wish to upgrade and the amount of XP they'll yield when upgraded. Upgrading potions can be done in batches of up to five at a time, and the XP they provide will be added to your current XP count.

Once a potion has been upgraded, it will not degrade until you re-use it, or break the bottle it's stored in. You can also rename the potion by clicking on it in your inventory.

Version 1.7.2 introduced a few modifications to the mechanism of potions. For instance the splash potions now have a duration of 0:08 (this is not the same as the 22.5 seconds shown on the hover display of the item). The potion table is now made of four Wood Planks, and two Glass. It can now be utilized in both Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions are not compatible with cauldrons like Java Edition. The same applies to using a potion in a cauldron that is full. This will deplete the liquid, and then refill the bottle.

Finally, there are lingering potions, which are made using dragon breath and splash potions. Redstone is also added to potions that are lingering to increase their effect. The potion table is rearranged to look more like the Java Edition. New potions have also been added, like the potion of leaping as well as decomposition.

Trinkets

A trinket can be an ornamental item that is small, cheap or piece of jewelry. It can also refer to an object or decoration that serves a function but is not particularly significant such as a trinket. In some cultures, a trinket is used to express affection or friendship between family members.

Players can upgrade trinkets as well as weapons or armor, as well as potions. These can be upgraded by visiting an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate currency. Unlike other item upgrades trinkets are able to be swapped out at will without losing their status.

The upgrade vendors are found in major cities and in the capital of each zone, and in some cases, dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are offered with gold, tokens, or fragments from a rare trinket.

Upgrading a trinket is an affordable alternative to buying new ones. It is possible to upgrade the player for just 12 tokens. The new trinket will come with the same base ilvl of the old one, and will include an additional upgrade bonus of 1.

Trinkets can be upgraded when they're no longer useful, allowing a player to increase their power and worth over time. They can also be traded between players which makes them a popular alternative to gold.

In general players should make upgrades to their highest priority items first. This typically means the top-of-the-line items for their class, then their secondaries and then other pieces of gear that they won't replace soon (for instance, a ring or cloak). When choosing which items to upgrade players must also take into account the class's preferred stats. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats for a tank player and they want to upgrade their helm, chest and shoulders.

Trinkets are able to be upgraded to a higher ilvl once they no longer have value and the new trinket will receive an additional upgrade bonus of 1. However, a re-upgrade can cause the trinket to be destroyed in the event that it is not salvaged with the Black Lion Salvage Kit or a higher-tier salvage tool. This means upgrading trinkets is more expensive than other upgrades, however it is still less expensive than buying a new one.
