HELLO DECEMBER!

Hello Friends,

December has arrived and with it, the joy and craziness of the holiday season. Hard to believe the end of year is quickly approaching. This month may be full of parties, family, friends, exchanging gifts and more. However, as any NYC resident knows, it's also an expensive time of year with the addition of staff tipping being thrown into the mix. The list can be endless- super, doormen, porters, handyman, garage attendants, pet groomers and more. What to do?

Each year a list of suggested tipping amounts is published. However, there are things to bear in mind when deciding what to give. If you live in a rental building- tips are generally less than if you own a coop or condo. Also If you only live in a building for a short time as opposed to over a year, that needs to be considered as well. If you are pressed for cash and truly cannot afford to tip- a box of homemade cookies will be appreciated a lot more than giving nothing. Remember that these staff members just want to feel appreciated for serving you during the year.

I would like to wish all my friends and clients a very Happy Holiday season with Best Wishes for a Healthy, Happy, and Prosperous New Year to all.

As always, if you have any specific topic requests or any questions at all regarding the NYC real estate market, I would be happy to hear from you. Or you can just reach out to say hello! Your feedback is always welcome.

Until next time,

Neighborhood Spotlight

LONG ISLAND CITY

The Long Island City of now will certainly be a lot different than the Long Island City of the future. This residential and commercialneighborhood just over the Queensboro Bridge has been experiencing an increase in popularity before the announcement regarding Amazon creating another headquarters there. It's certain to say that rents and condo prices will steadily rise with the same being said for the surrounding areas. This has many concerned.Needless to say, it's a fabulous time for investors and they know it.

WELCOME AMAZON TO NYC

Who doesn't order from Amazon? I don't know anyone. Well, now New Yorkers are proud to say that Amazon is creating another home for themselves in Long Island City. It will be called HQ2.

The Seattle-based company says it will invest about $2.5 billion and create more than 25,000 high-paying jobs at each of its two new locations in Long Island City and Arlington, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, D.C.

The arrival of Amazon in LIC could establish NY as a major technology hub.

Over 200 bids were submitted for their city to be chosen, but luckily Virginia and New York State are the lucky winners.

BONNY'S BEST

What to Give?

Do you have a lot of small gifts to buy but don't want to break the bank? Maybe a bunch of teacher's gifts or small thank-you gifts for people that you don't know very well but want to show your appreciation for? Or maybe something to bring to someone's home on a holiday or New Year's home celebration? Cash isn't always the best option since it can be more impersonal. Here are a few of my favorite suggestions that I feel are great ideas and they are reasonable in cost.

1. L'Occitane makes a great travel size hand cream gift pack

2. Kiehls makes great gift packs for both men and women.

3.Bloomingdale'shas fabulous 3 wick scented candles for $22.

4. Mrs.Prindable's caramel apples and pretzels are always a favorite.

5. Bed Bath & Beyond has picture frames for everyone at all price points and who doesn't like a picture frame for their desk or home?
