The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot vacuum can sweep and vacuum your floors without having to be involved. It will also leave the floors spotless. Its price is surprisingly low and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

Be sure to regularly check your robot's brushes for hair that is tangled and large particles and wash them if required. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dust bin and place it in an additional bin at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model) they employ smart mapping to create detailed floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet to get it clean quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept in removing dog hair. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our first option. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also quiet and can be used while you are at work or in school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for a wet one in minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm is great for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the entire house with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did an excellent job cleaning a range of floors and rooms that had different flooring types, including certain area rugs. automated vacuum cleaner was excellent and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that appears like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxes This robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our reviews. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with an easy mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work or during the night when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit costly, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. If you're willing with a little more noise and some extra cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should please almost everyone.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on how dirty these areas are.

If you have a larger home, it is worth choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your home needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. For families that are busy, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be very useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or organize a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. The app also gives access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It features an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction and clever combs for removing pet hair. It also has the ability to create a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
