WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boost in specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. A random substat is also added to every upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed forever and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and is accessible anytime to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

The cost of upgrades will depend on the current level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items which can be used to level up weapons, tools, armor, and other items. They are purchased by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for different currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool using a The button will display the item's next upgrade level if there are enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currency types.

Item upgraders can be found in a variety of locations, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of obtaining the latest recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades must be acquired through various methods, which is both an improvement but also a drawback.

In Season 3, the upgrade system has been altered a bit, with several new features added. After the player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This is even if those items come from another set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is available across all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain achievement milestones.

Crests

Players have a variety of choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. They can choose to use Flightstones, which are a general upgrade currency that is available to all, or crests, which are more specialized and are used to upgrade specific levels of the item. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests can only be spent on equipment that is of a particular rank, and each rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and easiest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the kind of equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulties to get lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader for the item such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.

Using these new currencies isn't that difficult however, the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level on all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

Another significant change is that crests only have one use, so it's important to use them wisely. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is especially true for items such as trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The discount for the entire account is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
