The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot vacuum will vacuum and mop your floors with no effort. It will also leave the floors spotless. Its price is affordable and its high-end functions (such as dirt detectors) are both positives.

Make sure you regularly examine the brushes of your robot for tangled hair and large debris, and wash them when required. Some models can also automatically empty their onboard dust bin into a larger one at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've examined. They feature motors that are top-of-the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they employ intelligent mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with Carpet Boost, a feature that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests of floors with no carpet They are also adept in removing dog hair. They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our first choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a good deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of bare flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also very quiet and operates while you're at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, however it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to offer cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.

It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire home, and it did so with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a great job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms with various flooring types, such as some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy units of the rivals. It's among our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It has advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has a simple mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to live some more volume and a little more cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will please almost everyone.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and washes and dries the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its premium competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection but this was not foolproof in our testing and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to how dirty they tend to be.

If you own a larger home, it is worth choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have lot furniture. Finally best robot vacuum cleaner and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you'd think from its price. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's self-sufficient too, with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to ensure better performance. The app also grants access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It has an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, however it is more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums we have tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
