The Best Robot Hoover

The most effective robot hoover will clean and mop without requiring your attention, and will leave your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line functions (such as a dirt detector) are a plus.

Be sure to regularly inspect your robot's brushes for tangled hair as well as large debris, and wash them when required. Certain models also automatically empty the onboard dust bin and place it in a larger bin at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They have motors that are top of the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top pick) they employ smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with a feature called Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top option. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great deal, especially if your home or office has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also very quiet and operates while you're at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has self-emptying docks, however. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This highly efficient mop and vacuum combo utilizes advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it will learn the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can modify the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones using the app that is well-designed. good robot vacuum is average compared to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to remove and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a great cleaning job on various floors and rooms with different flooring types including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' boxy units, this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's also the sole robot vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in the mornings prior to work or during the night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also a bit costly, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however it's more expensive and make more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, as well as washes and drys mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also has an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the home based on how dirty those areas are.

For bigger homes it's worth looking for models with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a particular area of your home by using the app or voice controls. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. Additionally a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than its price would suggest. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to ensure better performance. The app also provides access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like adorable eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
