The Best Double Buggy Strollers

If you're expecting twins or two young children of various age groups, then a double buggy can help you out and out and. The best ones are simple to maneuver and deal with rough surfaces and kerbs.

These vehicles also come with features such as large sun canopies, as well as see-through hoods, as well adjustable seats.

1. Baby Jogger City Tour 2 Double

The City Tour 2 Double is the smallest double stroller in the Baby Jogger range. It was designed specifically for travel, and fits through standard doorways easily with its ultra-narrow shape. It's also among the lightest double buggies available weighing only 14lb when folded. It's ideal for travel with a newborn and toddler as you won’t over-exceed airline baggage allowances. It can also be folded to the size of a small travel bag, making it easy to store in the back of your car.

The one-handed, Z-shape fold is easy and it's extremely compact once you get the hang of it. It can take a couple of seconds to unfold. However, our tester discovered the auto lock to be a bit confusing and as the handlebar doesn't lock into position when you press it, it struck her legs when she used it. She also felt the handlebar was a bit on the short side and especially with the large changing bag hanging off of it.

Unlike other lightweight travel buggies, this doesn't skimp on features and is one of the most comprehensive double strollers that are available. It can be used with two carrycots (available separately) and has various recline positions, and has a UV 50+ canopy. You can add the bassinet to one or both seats to create an all-in-one travel system.

The four tires made of rubber are great for pavements and urban terrain. However, they're not made for off-roading. They had trouble with gravel and long grass and there wasn't enough clearance between the wheel bracket and the wheel and mud sank easily. However our testers still enjoyed using this buggy and it did manage to climb some beautiful muddy hills.

2. iCandy Orange

The iCandy Orange is a premium double buggy that is the best in design and versatility. It is an essential item for parents who want a stylish and durable double buggy that will last. The Orange has a gorgeous sleek, lightweight chassis that has a massive basket that easily fits 2 car seats. It features a gorgeous, removable canopy that is water-resistant and air-conditioned. It comes in trendy colours like Pistachio on the Jet Black Frame, Fossil on a Jet Black Frame, and Rose. There is also the possibility of a built-in ride on board for older sibling to join in the fun.

The 2021 update comes with a few changes with improved manoeuvrability, and an even larger, better shopping basket with a re-designed bumper bar and leatherette cover. The seats are extremely comfortable and have a moulded appearance. They're also adjustable so they can be set to suit siblings' needs. iCandy has introduced the first "cinema seating" style that allows parents to maintain eye contact between both children. They can also be repositioned to face either parent or world facing.

It's a heavier tandem buggie but it's a breeze to use and drive, especially on smooth pavements. It's stable in double and single mode, and can be used on sloping ground. It's not as easy to use on public transport since it requires two hands on the handlebar. It's also a little bulky and won't fit into a standard car boot with the seat in place, however this can be overcome by thoughtful planning. iCandy have included a footmuff, changing bag and car seat adapters included in the price so this is an excellent value package for parents who are new.

3. Its sleek frame and small dimensions make it perfect for shopping malls and narrow city streets. Its swivel wheels on the front and four-wheel suspension enable it to handle rough or uneven terrain.

This model is also great for families who plan to travel since it can accommodate a car-seat in the back. It features a one-click secure fold and can be used with a wide range of Joie infant car seat. It has a large basket, as well as comfortable seats for kids. The only drawback is that the front seat can't recline fully, which may be a concern for small infants. However, it is still an excellent choice for families who are looking for an inexpensive and light stroller.

4. Cybex Gazelle S

If you're expecting twins, this is definitely the stroller you need. It's the first travel system from Cybex and comes with built-in adaptors that allow you to transform one pushchair to a double. The Gazelle's seat unit also reclines to a flat position. It also comes with an extensive UV 50+ sun shade that is essential for your kids.

From birth, it is mono pushchair and up to 4 years as double, with the addition of the CLOUD Z i-Size car seat or a second seat unit or Gazelle Cot, this is the future-ready stroller that can be adapted to your family. double pram and pushchair that is one-pull allows you to easily ensure your child's safety even if you're carrying your baby on your back.

In contrast to most double strollers, the Gazelle S folds up compactly with both seats firmly attached, so it's easy to fit into the storage space at home or in your trunk. This stroller is extremely flexible and child-friendly due to its single-pull harness and large recline. It also has puncture-proof wheels so you don't have to worry about flat tires on your adventures.

5. Nipper Double V5

The Nipper Double V5 from Out 'n' About is a new version of the award-winning all-terrain buggie. It's designed for siblings or twins, and features independent reclined seats, compatibility with carrycots and a light frame that makes it easy to maneuver on bumpy terrain.

The adjustable height handle and rear wheel suspension provide an enjoyable ride for children up to 22kg. The tough pneumatic tyres, that are easy to clean, give a smooth ride while running. The 360-degree swivel can be locked to make it easier to manoeuvre around the town. The one-pedal lock brake is also easy to use.

Our testers found the Nipper Double was incredibly easy to maneuver, even when walking on uneven ground or turning swiftly in the middle of a busy street. They were also impressed by the fact that both seats recline independently, which means they can be adjusted to meet your individual preferences - perfect for napping.

The hoods were also simple to adjust for sun or wind protection. They didn't provide as much coverage as the Baby Jogger City Mini Hoods. It might be worth carrying an extra rain cover inside the case.

Overall, our testers loved the way the Nipper Double allowed them to take their twins Sydney and Lyla on all sorts of adventures, from spotting wildlife in the woods, to rushing to the park to play with their friends. They were also awed by how cosy and spacious the two seats are, with plenty of room for toddlers growing to play in. Our testers did mention that the lack of parent-facing seating and the inability to use car seats with this buggy were a problem and they would like to see more storage space for shopping and other gear.
