Path of Exile Item Upgrades

The performance of many Path of Exile items can be improved by upgrading them. They can provide extra damage, AD or even affixes.

Rare-grade equipment is often superior to modernized Common or Magic equipment because of their high requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a type of upgrade that can be used on armor and weapon items. They improve the performance of the item they are connected to. Upgrades to armor are available in the game's world and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. Additionally, they can be rescued from items with upgrade components inside them, with a professional or higher salvage kit.

The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it will take on. The ability to absorb damage of an armor piece will increase as it is upgraded to the highest upgrade level. But, it's important to note that this will also increase its weight, causing it to be heavier than before.

There are several different types of armor upgrades that are available in the game. Each one has a distinct effect. Certain upgrades give armor an additional number of health points, while others make it stronger and lighter. The kind of armor upgrade an item can get is indicated by the name of the upgrade as shown in the table below.

Some upgrades also feature magic or a mix of magic and technology, which is identified by the "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Some upgrades also require a charge to use, which is identified by an "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges associated with these upgrades refresh daily or never expire according to the upgrade.

The cheapest method to upgrade armor is by using Iron Ore, which can be obtained through exploring the surroundings and looting chests of minor loot. Titanium is more expensive but can be found at the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to higher level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide a significant improvement in stats and are a worthwhile investment, especially for 1-handed weapons.

A piece of armor upgraded to max upgrade level will significantly increase its defense capabilities however, the user must be aware that putting on weight will drastically reduce its speed and agility. This is why it is typically not recommended to upgrade most armor pieces that are higher than +9 since the defensive boost gained is usually not worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades needed.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can increase the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage that shotgun shells cause. Certain weapons also come with upgrades that improve their innate qualities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, and reduces the possibility of overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's velocity to cause more damage) are two examples.

The majority of upgrades for weapons require a whetblade, one of three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. They can be obtained by completing Side Quests, killing a certain amount of monsters or bosses or by contacting the Weapon Upgrade NPC located in Central Flarine.

The process of upgrading a weapon, equipment Set piece or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade fee of a certain number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the higher the number of bars you will need to complete the upgrade. If you have multiple upgrade materials, the cost of upgrading will be lower.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the method of upgrading your weapon and equipment sets has changed a bit. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5, you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a certain number of Bars. You could do this until the weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level, at which point the upgrades would be reset.

You can still do this but the process is based on RNG and low on agency. You're better off buying gear that has minimal upgrade levels and high base scores and stat distributions. These gears have a higher chance of giving you the highest tier blessings and perks.

Most players will want to make the most of upgrades to weapons they use most frequently to allow them to progress faster. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their teammates use to make them stronger. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to enhance its effectiveness when paired with experts in biotics like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels can be used to boost the effectiveness of a skill or provide additional effects in armor and weapons. Jewelry crafting is a method of making them, where you combine the gemstone with specific reagents on a table. The higher the level of the gem, the better its secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses in the world, or through salvaging Legendary Gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.

The Jeweler can boost the quality of gemstones in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. Based on the tier of the jewel, it will provide a different stat boosts when it is inserted into weapons, gear and jewelry.

All kinds of jewels can be made at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels which require you to be at a high enough level to qualify for the privilege of having them. In contrast to other upgrade components, jewels can be swapped with a identical jewel without damaging the original one. You can only replace the gem once within an item of equipment.

The use of more jewels in the movement will make it feel smoother and is typically performed for aesthetic reasons. In addition to improving performance, the diamonds create a surface that is harder than metal, which means that repeated friction with pivots doesn't cause harm as easily.

In addition to the above upgrades additionally, players can get glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs offer a small boost and can be freely traded, but they are not guaranteed to appear as loot. Glyphs are upgradeable, as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold and Scattered Crystal. Glyphs are also removed from the inventory, and they are returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components such as traits or aegis can't be exchanged and can only be found through an upgrade extractor or salvaging with Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are a great way to provide your hero with many small, but useful benefits. They are available in the start-up area as loot or personal story rewards. They can also be obtained from vendors as well as through the completion of road interactions. They can be purchased from the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinket a player will be able to unlock is the cloak. It gives a small but valuable boost in speed of movement and evasion. After that, they'll be able to get amulets, rings, and necklaces in a similar way to how a player acquires weapons and armor. Each piece of gear comes with one upgrade slot that can accept either a universal upgrade or a jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades are smaller and are able to be used on any equipment. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced, and can only be used with certain trinkets.

These trinkets also grant additional buffs and skills that are active whenever the hero is not in combat. This lets the hero be more effective while inactive and also helps make up for a lack of a strong team or the absence of any slots from the talent tree that would normally be filled with the hero's best statistics.

As a rule, trinket upgrades should prioritize BiS (Best in Slot) items you won't replace soon. Also, consider items with desirable stats that aren't as significant as the iLevel of the item that is to be upgraded. This is especially true if you want to upgrade multiple statistics on an item. item upgrades is best to upgrade just one crucial stat rather than two suboptimal ones.

At the beginning of the game junglers will usually want to upgrade their yellow trinket into a red one, while top and mid players will usually opt for the pink or green ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices will have a major impact on the hero's ability to control his map.

In addition to the items mentioned above, players can also find other trinkets in the form of trophies and rewards throughout the game. They can be obtained by completing certain milestones within the story. For example, completing a chapter’s main quest or beating the boss. You can view them by selecting the achievement from the reward section of the hero's menu.
