upgrade item of Exile Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and crucial method to enhance the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can also provide additional damage, AD or even affixes.

Rare-grade equipment is usually superior to modernized Common or Magic equipment due to their high demands.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a form of upgrade that can be used on armor and weapon items. They boost the performance of the item they are connected to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged using a professional or higher salvage kit to salvage upgrade components from other items.

The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it is able to take on. The ability to absorb damage of an item of armor will increase when it's upgraded to its maximum upgrade level. It is important to note that this will increase the weight of the armor, which means it must be more heavy.

There are many different kinds of armor upgrades available in the game. Each has a different impact. For example, some upgrades give the armor a certain number of health points while others will make it stronger and lighter. The type of armor upgrade that an item can receive will be identified by the name of the upgrade as indicated in the table below.

Certain upgrades require magic or a combination of technology and magic, which is indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Some upgrades also require a fee to use, and are indicated by the "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges for these upgrades change every day or never expire, depending on the upgrade.

Iron Ore is the cheapest option to improve your armor. It can be found by exploring and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive however, it is available from the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant boost in stats, and are definitely worth the investment.

The player must be aware that upgrading a piece to the maximum upgrade level can boost its defense. However, it can also reduce its agility and its speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor above +9. The defensive boost gained typically isn't worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can boost the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage that shotgun shells cause. Certain weapons come with special upgrades that enhance their inherent capabilities. These include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and reduces the risk of weapon overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the speed of projectiles to cause more damage).

The majority of weapon upgrades require a whetblade, one of three Power Dices and a different amount Minerals and Erons. These can be obtained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain number of bosses and monsters.

Upgrades to a weapon, equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade fee of a set number of Bars. The more bars required to complete an upgrade, the more expensive the upgrade. If you have multiple upgrade materials the cost of upgrading will be lower.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the ways to upgrade your equipment and weapon sets has changed a bit. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a specific number of Bars. You could do this until you reach a maximum upgrade level for the equipment or weapon, after which the upgrades would reset.

It's possible, but it is dependent heavily on RNG. It is better to purchase gear with low upgrade levels and high base scores and stat distributions. These will have a chance at gaining you the highest tier benefits and blessings.

Most players will want to make the most of upgrades to weapons they use most frequently to help them level up faster. In addition to these, players should consider upgrading the weapons they use with their teammates to increase their power and effective. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R, which will increase its utility when paired with biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels can be used to improve a stat or provide secondary effects on weapons and armor. They can be created using the process of jewelry crafting, which is where you combine a gem and various reagents at a jewelry table. The higher the grade of the jewel the better the secondary effect. These reagents are obtained in the world through Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and sometimes by salvaging Legendary equipment. You can also buy them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.

The quality of a gem can be improved by the Jeweler, with stages that vary from Crude to Royal. Based on the level of the jewel, it will provide a different stat boosts when it is inserted into weapons, equipment and jewelry.

The Jeweler can craft the highest levels of gems with the exception of rare and legendary ones, which require certain levels to gain. Like other upgrade components jewels are able to be swapped with a jewel of the same kind without destroying the original one. You are able to replace the jewel once in an item of equipment.

It is normal to use more gems for aesthetic reasons. The jewels also improve performance and create a harder surface than steel, so that the repeated friction from pivots does not cause damage to them.

In addition to the upgrades mentioned above, the player can also obtain glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs offer a small boost and can be traded, but they're not guaranteed to show up as loot. Glyphs are upgradeable, as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold, and also scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be taken out and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, like aegis and traits, cannot be swapped out, and are only recoverable by using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets can be used to provide your hero with various small, but valuable, advantages. You can find them in the starter area as loot or as personal story rewards. They are also available through vendors and after doing road interaction. They may also be crafted by jewelers, and then found or purchased at the Trading Post.

The first trinket that a player will be able to unlock is the cloak. It provides a tiny, but useful bonus in movement speed and evasion. Then, they can acquire rings, amulets, and necklaces in a similar way to how a player acquires armor and weapons. Every piece of equipment has an upgrade slot which can be universal or jewel. Universal upgrades offer fewer benefits and can be placed in any type of equipment however, jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded, and is only compatible with certain types of trinkets.

These trinkets can provide additional bonuses and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't fighting. This enables the hero to be more effective while inactive and also helps fill in the void of a solid team or any slots from the talent tree which would normally be filled with the hero's ideal statistics.

As a general rule trinket upgrades should be a priority BiS (Best in Slot) items you won't replace in the near future. Next, any items with desirable stats that are less significant than the iLevel of the item to be upgraded. This is especially true if you are looking to upgrade multiple statistics on an item. It's better to upgrade one important stat than two less important ones.

In the beginning of the game players who are in the jungle will typically want to upgrade their trinket into a red one, while top and middle players usually choose the pink or green ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices will have a major impact on the hero's map control abilities.

In addition to the items mentioned above, players can also find other trinkets that form trophies and rewards throughout the game. These can be earned through completing certain milestones within the story. For example, completing the main quest of a chapter or beating an opponent. These can be viewed by selecting the relevant achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
