It's a method of co-sleeping that is safe and does not increase the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) similar to bedsharing and can help you build a bond with your newborn.

They have one side that can be lowered so that you can reach your baby easily at night to comfort and feed them. This is particularly helpful for mothers who are recovering from a c section. Many of them are portable or foldable so you can use them for trips and as an interim solution for infants who aren't quite ready to transition into a crib that is large enough.

Find a crib that has a breathable mattress, and a protective cover that will shield your baby from stains. You may also want to buy baby-safe accessories such as an infant blanket or a teether.

If you're looking for a longer-term alternative, some cribs are equipped with conversion kits that let you transform them into a cot or a toddler bed when the time comes. This will prolong their life and make the transition smoother. Some have a removable section at the top that can be turned into an infant bed. Others can be used in conjunction with a standard adult bed or a high-rise model. This is an excellent choice for families that intend to frequently travel or switch between bedrooms at night. Consider the dimensions of your room to ensure that you fit comfortably in the crib. A lot of cribs have a riser which can be used to create an inclined position for infants who suffer from reflux.

The Joie Roomie Glide

The Roomie Glide, a bedside crib manufactured by the English brand Joie, is a great addition to their line of high-quality products for babies. It is designed to help parents bond with their babies whilst sleeping side by side without sharing a bed. This co-sleeper has features that make parent-baby bonding enjoyable, safe and easy.

One of the key features is a smooth, rocking motion that can be activated with the press of a button. It can help soothe baby to sleep by a gentle rhythm that doesn't disturb their natural sleeping pattern. This is great for older toddlers or babies who have difficulty settling down. It can also assist with digestive issues such as colic and reflux.

The crib can also be attached to the side of the bed using clips and straps. This makes the crib very solid and secure and allows you to sleep peacefully, without having to worry that your child will slide off into the middle. The round shape of the cocoon is complemented by softly padded side panels and double mesh windows at both ends. This allows for airflow while keeping your baby safe.

The mattress is soft and firm. It includes a washable cover. It adjusts up and down and can be moved through three slide positions to fit beside the parent's bed, or in the corner of the room so that baby is always close to the parent's side. The mesh siding allows air to flow through and allows you to see your baby quickly. And you can store additional pajamas and other items in the large storage basket beneath.

In contrast to other bedside crib options Iora is a standout among other bedside cribs. Iora folds flat and comes with a bag for travel to allow it to be carried anywhere. Our mom testers found it easy to move from room to room and felt that it was a suitable size for a bedside cot that was not too big or too small. They also liked the large storage basket, that is ideal for storing nappies or bedding.

This is a great choice for parents who want to co-sleep, but do not want to share their beds or whose partners may be suffering from mobility issues, such as back problems or arthritis. Our mum testers love the ease with which they can access their child in the Iora, and that it comes with an option to tilt the bed upwards to help alleviate gas.

Our mothers appreciate that the mattress follows NICE guidelines. They recommend placing the infant in a Moses basket or crib on its own without blankets, toys or pillows. They also claim that the mattress is comfortable and firm for baby and is easy to find sheets for. It isn't as light as the other cribs that are smaller, though and if you're looking for something lighter and easier to move around with, think about one of the other options in our list.
