The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and will leave your floors spotless. Its price is surprisingly low and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

Be sure to regularly examine the brushes of your robot for hair tangled as well as large debris, and wash them when needed. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in an additional bin at the base. This can reduce the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've test. They feature motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top choice), they use smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans that avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good value for those whose office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and operates while you are at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be changed for a wet one in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors that help it stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and provide more efficient cleaning. You can modify the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did an excellent job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms with various flooring types, such as certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was excellent, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically emptys into its base, and it supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' compact models This mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's still quite loud that could be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing with a little more noise and some additional cost it's a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features to help you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine, similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically empty the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the house based on how dirty those areas are.

For larger homes, it's worth opting for a model with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house using the app or via voice commands. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you would think from its price. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a reciprocating movement that is more efficient than most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, set up an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app also grants access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It features an impressive 8000 Pascal suction as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. remote hoover is excellent at vacuuming, but it is more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums that we have test. It also has an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
