World of Warcraft - Item Upgrade

Item upgrades allow players to increase the level of equippable weapons and armor. This increases the stats and sometimes adds buffs or rerolls on an attach.

It is crucial to remember that upgrading your magic and common gear isn't always worth the cost. Rare and exclusive equipment will quickly surpass upgraded magic and common equipment.

Cost

The player must spend gold to upgrade an item. The cost to upgrade an item depends on the current level of the item and the type of upgrade. For example upgrading a weapon will generally be less expensive than upgrading armor, as weapons have lower level requirements. The amount of Gold required increases as an item is upgraded.

Upgraded items also come with upgraded stats that will improve its performance in a variety of ways. This may include increasing its attack power or critical strike chance. The upgraded item can also add additional benefits to the unit it's equipped with. These upgrades can be used to boost the overall power of a group or unit, and can have a significant impact on the gameplay.

Items can be upgraded at any NPC who is an upgrader in the game. In general NPCs can be found in major cities or questing locations. This procedure is similar to the reforging of gear in Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor. However, instead of using currency, players need to visit an upgrader for their item to complete the process.

Upgrades can be costly particularly for armor and weapons. Based on the upgrade track you select, each item level increase can cost Crests or Valorstones. The costs are prohibitive for those who do not have the funds or are unable to grind.

Fortunately the game allows players to play a reroll of an upgraded item by using an additional tool available in the menu for items. This option exchanges the upgraded item with an equivalent level 1 version that has an additional set of bonus effects. This can help you get higher scores on items that are already upgraded, but it can also be a waste of money.

Requirements

Upgrading is the procedure of increasing the level of the items that are equippable, such as trinkets, weapons, and armor. This improves their power and makes them more effective in combat. Players can upgrade their gear by spending the appropriate currency at an upgrader. However, players must be aware that certain upgrades have special requirements.

The initial upgrades only boost the base item's stats by one level, however later upgrades give more substantial enhancements. For instance, upgrading a weapon from level three to level six will boost the weapon's damage by plus two levels. In addition the upgraded item will receive bonus stats, which is based on the level at which it was purchased. The bonus consists of a substat that is guaranteed and an undetermined stat that can vary from upgrade to upgrade.

A player can reroll an upgraded item by using a Reroll Token to exchange the upgrade for a brand new one. The new item comes with a distinct set of bonuses, and is of a lower level of the item. The rerolled item will have different requirements for strength and dexterity. It is important to note that the rerolled item will not be able to maintain its strength or have any of its wasted resources.

Certain upgraded items can only be rerolled only if the original item was Unique Epic, Rare, or Rare. Additionally, exceptional items can be rerolled but the original stats are replaced by an uncapped bonus. Rerolling a Rare or Epic item will produce an ordinary version, while rerolling the Epic version will result in an elite version.

Upgraded items can come with additional modifiers that can improve their performance and increase their stats. These additional modifiers do not come with the upgrade price. They can be acquired by doing quests, purchasing them at the Trading Post or from other players. In addition, every upgrade has a chance to provide a random extra stat bonus. The bonus value differs for each upgrade, and it's typically higher for items that are rarer. Certain upgrade components also have cosmetic effects. Players can obtain upgrade components through crafting, purchasing from vendors, or at the Trading Post, looting, or as a reward. In addition, players can recover upgraded items by using an Upgrade Extractor or by salvaging them with a salvage kit. Glyphs that are placed in tools for gathering, can be freely swapped out without restrictions.

A player can reroll an item into a different upgradeable item by selecting it and pressing the green button with an arrow for reroll. This will change the layout of the item's window and allow players to choose up to six items to "recycle". The item will be replaced with an item of level 1. Rerolled items will not retain their level, or the resources used to upgrade it.

The maximum level of upgrade for an item is determined by its tier and the quality. Rare and Epic items can be upgraded up to level nine, while common items are only upgraded up to level six. The upgrades to items are added to the base statistics of the item.
