Path of Exile Item Upgrades

The performance of many Path of Exile items can be enhanced by upgrading them. They can also provide additional damage, AD or even affixes.

Rare-grade equipment is usually superior to modernized Common or Magic gear due to their high demands.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a kind of upgrade that can be applied to armor and weapon items. They boost the performance of the item they're connected to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of the game and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. They can also be salvaged by using an expert or higher salvage kits to recover upgrade components from other items.

The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it can absorb. The ability to absorb damage of a piece armor will increase when it's upgraded to the maximum upgrade level. However, it's important to note that this will also raise its weight, requiring it to be heavier than before.

There are a few different types of armor upgrades that are available in the game and each one has distinct effects. Certain upgrades give armor a greater amount of health points while others make it stronger and lighter. The type of armor upgrade that an item can receive will be indicated by the name of the upgrade, as shown in the table below.

Certain upgrades require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, as indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Some upgrades also require charges to use, which is shown by a "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges for these upgrades change daily or never expire according to the upgrade.

The cheapest method to upgrade armor is with Iron Ore, which can be obtained by exploring the environment and looting minor loot chests. item upgrades is more expensive but is readily available at the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can give significant improvements in stats and are worth the investment, particularly for one-handed weapons.

The player should be aware that upgrading a piece up to the maximum upgrade level will increase its defense value. However, it will also decrease its agility and its speed. This is why it is typically not recommended to upgrade the majority of armor pieces above +9, since the added defense is typically not worth the extra weight and power costs of the improvements required.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players to improve the effectiveness of certain aspects of an weapon. Upgrades can improve the accuracy of a rifle or the damage caused by shotgun shells. Some weapons have special upgrades to improve their inherent capabilities. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and decreases the chance of the risk of overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).

The majority of upgrades for weapons require a whetblade. It's one of three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. They can be obtained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain number of monsters and bosses.

To upgrade an equipment set, weapon piece or Whetblade You must go to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a certain amount of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the higher the number of bars are required to complete it. If you have multiple upgrade materials the cost of upgrading will be less.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the way you upgrade your equipment and weapon sets has changed a bit. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a specific number of Bars. You could do this until you reached a maximum upgrade level for the equipment or weapon, after which the upgrades would reset.

This is still possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. It is better to purchase gear with minimal upgrade levels, but high base scores and stat distributions. These gears have a higher chance of giving you the highest tier advantages and benefits.

To increase their level faster, most players will prioritise upgrading their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons their squadmates use to make them stronger. Shepard, for example should upgrade his M92F so that he can unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more effective when used in conjunction with biotic specialists such as Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are used in the armor's sockets and weapons, increasing the power of a character and bringing about secondary effects. Jewelry crafting is a method for creating them. You combine a gemstone with a number specific reagents on a jewelry table. The higher the level of the gem, the greater the secondary effect. These reagents are obtained in the world through Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and occasionally by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.

The Jeweler can improve the quality of a gem in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. The stat boosts can vary depending on the tier the jewel is at when it's slotted into weapons, jewelry, or equipment.

All levels of jewels are crafted at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a sufficient level to be able to get the privilege of having them. Like other upgrade components jewels are able to be swapped by a different jewel of the same type without damaging it. However you can only swap out one jewel in a piece of equipment once.

It is common to use more jewelry to enhance the appearance of. The jewels also improve performance and make an outer layer that is more durable than metal so that repeated friction caused by pivots does not cause damage to them.

A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs to enhance the appearance of your shields and weapons. These glyphs give a slight boost in power and can be exchanged, however they are not guaranteed to be available as loot. Glyphs, just like jewelry, can be upgraded at the Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Crystals. Glyphs can also be taken out and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components like aegis or traits cannot be exchanged and can only be found through an upgrade extractor or salvaging using Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are a great way to give your character a variety of small, but useful, advantages. You can find them in the start-up area as rewards for personal stories or loot. They can also be obtained from vendors as well as through doing road interaction. They can also be crafted by jewelers, and found or purchased from the Trading Post.

The first trinket that a player will unlock is the cloak. It provides a tiny but beneficial boost in speed of movement and the ability to escape. The player can then acquire necklaces, amulets, and rings in a similar manner similar to how they obtained weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has one upgrade slot that can accommodate either a universal or a jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades offer fewer benefits and can be used in any kind of equipment while jewelry cannot be changed or upgraded, and is only compatible with certain types of trinkets.

These trinkets also provide additional buffs and skills that are active when the hero is not in combat. This enables the hero to be more effective while inactive and also helps make up for a lack of a strong team or the absence of any talent tree slots that would normally be filled with the hero's ideal statistics.

A good general rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you won't be replacing soon, followed by items with desirable stats that are less important than the iLevel of the item to be upgraded. This is especially true when you are looking to upgrade multiple statistics on an item. It is better to upgrade one important stat instead of two subpar ones.

Jungle players often upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red trinket at the beginning of the game. Mid and top players however will pick a pink or green ward, depending on the matchup. These choices can affect the ability of a hero to control the map.

In addition to the items mentioned above, players can discover a variety of other trinkets in the game in the form of awards and trophies. They can be obtained by completing certain milestones within the story. For example, completing a chapter’s main quest or defeating a boss. These achievements can be seen by selecting the appropriate achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
