Vacuuming With a Robot Hoover is the Best Hands-Off Model We've Tested

This top-of-the-line bot from Eufy is the most hands-free model we've tested to date. It vacuums, mops, self-empties its bin, washes and dries mop pads without your intervention.

It doesn't feature advanced cleaning modes or a bigger docking system, but it offers amazing performance for less than half the price of the most expensive robotic vacuums. It also boasts the ability to be able to reach under furniture.

Vacuuming

Vacuuming with a robot is a quick, easy way to keep your floors looking and feeling clean. self vacuum of the robots featured that we have selected are designed to work without your involvement, so you can schedule them to run while you're away or initiate cleaning sessions using your phone. But, you should look for a model with superior navigation and obstacle detection so that it won't get stuck down the stairs or under furniture.

It is crucial to select the right robot vacuum to effectively and efficiently clean all types of flooring. Choose a model that has a dust bins that can hold plenty of dirt between emptying and the nozzle does not lose suction as it rotates to remove debris.

Most robots require minimal to no maintenance, other than taking out tangled fur from the rotating brush after each cleaning session (and wiping its camera or sensors as needed) and periodically emptying the bin or using the robot's self-emptying base. If you follow these simple maintenance tips, your robot vacuum should last as long as regular vacuums and help keep your home tidy for longer.

While robot mops tend to be less versatile than their vacuuming counterparts Some have the capability of absorbing spills and puddles while at it. The iLife V3s Pro is an example of a machine which is a great option for those with wood floors or a mix of rugs and carpets. It is quiet and has good navigation capabilities, which allowed it to avoid obstacles when tested. The charging dock can also function as a trash bin.

Select a robotic vacuum cleaner that can also mop simultaneously. This is what the Karcher RCV 5 can handle and it comes with other useful features such as live cameras that send an unreliable image to your app so you can check on your pets or children, as well as a remote control that is easily programmed. Its navigation isn't as solid as the other models in our collection however it is able to lift itself over low thresholds and has an ample 500ml dustbin that doesn't need to be emptied often.

Mopping

Robots that mop and vacuum are a relatively new addition to the market. They are more expensive and require an additional tank of water, unlike standalone robots. However, they could be worth the extra expense for those with staining that is difficult to clean or pets.

Some of the top robots can clean floors and carpets and also vacuum. Several brands now offer all-in-one robotics that perform both tasks extremely well. The Combo J9+ is among the most effective mopping robots that we have test. It has a dock that can store up to 60 days worth of debris. That's a big improvement on the Qrevo Pro, which ran out of water after mopping 30 days worth of dirt during our tests.

The Tapo RV30 Plus from networking giant TP Link is a fantastic two-in-one. It's quiet, compact, and is clean and easy to maintain an appearance. In our test rooms it cleaned the floors efficiently and thoroughly - it was particularly effective in cleaning rugs, but it required several runs to clean certain areas of wood that were stained. Its LIDAR navigation works well as well. It is able to avoid hitting furniture and running over power cables.

It's a bit slow on the stairs however, that's to be expected from a compact robot that's designed to overcome obstacles. Its only downside is its mopping pad attachment that was difficult to use to hold in the right position during our tests. It is also not capable of handling dust that has dried, making it more like a vacuum than a robot mop.

Despite these issues however, it's a great option for those seeking an effortless cleaning experience that can handle carpets that are bare or low-pile with equal competence. It has a decent amount of suction which helped it remove fine dust from pet hair and carpets. One of the best features is its automatic carpet recognition which boosts the power of the vacuuming to better tackle embedded dirt. It's also easy to use and comes with a convenient charging dock that automatically empty the dust bin once it's full, which is a real boon for those who live in flats.

Cleaning Apps

Nearly every robot vacuum mop, sweeper, and vacuum comes with an application that lets you personalize cleaning routines, select rooms to clean, schedule cleaning sessions, and adjust settings such as suction, water level and the power of scrubbing. Some robots also have intelligent dirt detection, which utilizes past cleaning data and map data to prioritize dirty areas and optimize cleaning mode.

A smartphone app can also allow you to create virtual barriers and no-go zones to shield your robot from potentially dangerous objects, such as cords or pet water bowls and sharp objects. Some models come with laser navigation sensors that allow you to create virtual barriers while others have small physical barriers and boundary strips can be put anywhere you want to block the floor area.

The most effective robot vacuums and mops are smart enough to detect obstacles and navigate around them however there are certain dangers to be on the lookout for. For instance, a robot's main brush can become stuck on long curtains or cords and stop the machine from running. You can prevent this from happening by clearing the area of all cords and tying up any curtains that are long prior to running your robot.

Some robots automatically update their software that manages navigation and obstacle avoidance algorithm. This improves performance and decreases the wear and tear of the robot's internal components. It is a good idea to regularly check the manufacturer's website or your robot's app for firmware updates.

If you live in a large home, select one that comes with different cleaning modes. The iRobot Roomba 11S Max can mop and vacuum on hard and carpeted floors using different suction settings. It also has the ability to automatically change to the highest power setting for carpets and increase its scrubbing capabilities with SmartScrub.

A robot with an integrated voice assistant is a fantastic option if you want to be hands off. The iRobot Roomba 980, for instance, can be controlled using a simple voice command from Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant. It comes with a compact self-emptying docking device and a powerful cleaning motor that will leave your floors sparkling.
