WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you boost in specific statistics. Each upgrade increases item level by 3. A random substat is also added to each upgrade.

The more modernized gear generally has a higher trade value, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

The cost of upgrading will depend on the current level of the equipment being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment from other sources. For instance, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will show the preview of an item's next upgrade level when there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the item slot and current item level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.

Item upgraders can be found in many places, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and the chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases with the number of items that are being upgraded. It can also be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety means. This is both a positive and a drawback.

In Season 3, many new features have been added to the upgrade system. After a player has earned an upgrade to a particular item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading further items to that same item level will be less expensive, even when they belong to another set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is affixed to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a couple of options. They can make use of Flightstones which are a general upgrade currency that is available to all, or crests, which are more specialized and are consumed during upgrades on specific item levels. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that the crests can only be purchased for equipment of a certain rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. Cases.gg requires up to 20 crests, contingent on the type or gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing content of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it does bring some changes to the process of upgrading. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to get their equipment to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. For instance, it's a good idea to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests with the best equipment you have, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you plan on making. This is especially applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The discount on the account will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
