CAMHS ADHD Assessment<br /><br />If your child or young person has issues, they may be referred to CAMHS to conduct an ADHD assessment. They will usually be asked to bring with them their parent(s)/guardian(s) and a teacher who knows them well.<br /><br />Parents and caregivers who were interviewed in response COVID-19 have highlighted the advantages of remote appointments, but also said that face-to-face appointments are preferred for assessment purposes.<br /><br />Signs and symptoms<br /><br /><br /><br />If you suffer from ADHD, your child or teenager may struggle to remain focused or concentrating, snagging things, having trouble falling asleep, and being easily distracted by external stimuli. They may also be unable to keep up with the demands of tasks or activities at school or home, have trouble understanding information and may find it difficult to follow directions. They could lose their possessions, experience difficulty completing homework or assignments and may miss appointments. They may end up hurting themselves or others if they are not careful. They may have difficulty in relationships, and find it difficult to get a job or work and have difficulty being a good parent.<br /><br />A few children and adolescents with ADHD are highly impulsive. They may fidget or tap their fingers, try to wait for their turn in their activities, or be incapable of stopping talking. They might not listen to what other people say and could be more likely to take risks like taking drugs or having dangerous sexual interactions. Some adults with ADHD suffer from emotional issues and can easily become angry or angry. They might also be overly sensitive to criticism or feel that other people are judging them.<br /><br />The symptoms of ADHD are different for every person and they can change as an individual gets older. They can affect anyone, regardless of gender, race or background. ADHD is a condition that can be treated with medication. They also want to see more targeted support for children and their families who have been diagnosed with ADHD.<br /><br />In the wake of the QI project, wait times between referral and ADHD assessment have decreased substantially. This is in line with the trust-level goals and reflects the focus on improving efficiency and capacity across the CAMHS system. The team used a change model and Plan-Do–Study–Act cycles to drive positive changes in the ADHD pathway.<br /><br />A diagnosis of ADHD could also assist you to get an Education, Health and Care Plan for your child. The EHCP allows schools to provide additional support for your children including medication and training courses.
